This property was first settled in 1875 by Messrs Rodda, Breen and McLean .
It is believed that it received its name from its homestead which was said to  resemble an Abbey.
It was burnt down in 1919.

It is adjacent to the Buffalo River, 40km south of Lake Buffalo, in the High Country.
Cattle grazed this bush country and were driven to Sale Yards in Myrtleford.
